To me, this wine signifies a rebirth of a label. For what once was a
doorstop in my old house, with a tired label and past trophies long
forgotten, this is now close to a revelation. The Cabernet and Merlot
work terrifically together, showing ripeness, balance and varietal
typicity. There is a place on the palate where fruit, oak and mouthfeel
all sit perfectly poised. The wine has subdued cedar, bright blackberry
and plummy fruit, fattened with a fresh cream softness. The length
could be extended, but I feel content in my purchase and excited by
what I feel is a real find. Yarra Valley Cabernet blends that are
elegant and over deliver will never go out of fashion, nor will simple
quality like this wine. Cellar door price was around the $30 mark, and
there is more to come from this producer so keep your eyes peeled.
