I

2005 By Farr Viognier

If replication of European styles is the benchmark for great quality then this Viognier from the House of Farr is great indeed. Heading into its 3rd year after vintage the wine is still holding together tightly, smelling of the fresh juice from pressing with savoury fine oak and heady smells of apricot. The palate is full and powerful and displays a richness of fruit and texture unique to Viogniers from our shores, but redescent of the great white wines of the Rhone. Time in bottle will look favourably on this wine and if you can buy enough to keep some aside this will become a glorious, richly textured and perfumed bottle of wine, that makes you question the ability of something as simple as grape juice being able to create such a consuming oral experience. Good luck!
