Shiraz, to me, when made well is always alluring, and when it is made to be savoury, almost salty, with pepper, spice and fruit emerging as if from shadows in the bottle, it always makes me smile.
The Jamsheed was a wonderful surprise. I had not seen a bottle before and as I stuck my nose into the glass, it was like I was walking into a surprise party full of friends wanting to give me presents. It was full of black olives, licorice and raspberries, and blackberry juice. The wine's elegance is beautifully accompanied by interwoven flavours of tobacco, french oak, and a creamy palate with very fine tannins, including an unmistakable crack of pepper. This is an elegant Shiraz with plenty of acidity, albeit a little piercing, all it was missing was some food.
You will be able to get this wine for around $35, and if you really like how it sounds, you can get it through BenandWine, just send me an email.
