I know I know, you are all over Chianti, well so was I until I tried this. It wasn't thin and weedy and it wasn't steeped in barrels of oak, trust me, I was as surprised as you will be. It was full and forward, with beautiful smells of earth and fruit and savoury, spicy meaty flavours. It was an absolutely terrific example of the new world meeting with the old, without one dominating the other. I am totally thrilled to find this wine and all for an insane price of $24.50. The wine sees mainly old oak, so the beautiful tannins are mainly from skin contact and go well with the nicely balanced acidity. I think it is safe to assume that a new kid is well and truly on the block. And if you want a bigger fuller style with some Cabernet in the blend and much more new oak, they also offer a Super Tuscan for just a tickle over $40 called Transgaia. Seek this producer out!
