2006 Cracroft Chase Woods Edge Pinot Gris
This is a full bodied wine with fresh Pinot Gris grape aromas of spice
and petals. It has a wonderful full texture and richness without being
oily or fat and as the palate of the wine develops there is a savoury
cheesiness from lees contact, which adds complexity and power to the
wine. It is floral and forward, yet savoury and long in the mouth. This
is a well balanced and big expression of Pinot Gris that we rarely if
ever see in Australia. It is not an easy wine to get hold of, but it
should be around town on some better wine lists, if you do find it in
retail it will cost about $25.
