2006 Pizzini Arneis

It seems that there are so many new grape varieties on our shelves, and if you are feeling any trepidation towards trying them, remember, they are only new to the Australian market and have been making wine in other countries for hundreds of years hopefully that will put our mind at rest. Arneis is a white grape variety most commonly found in Italy, so it is fitting that one of Australia's foremost Italian wine grape vignerons make this wine. The Pizzini family pulled up their tobacco plants to make wine in the King Valley and make wines in the stye of Italy, not just generic wine with an Itailan name. This Arneis is steely, with some suggestion of honey and dried herbs. It also has a pretty tropical fruit edge to it, but is for the most part quite savoury. It is dry with good acidity, and has a textural weight that would allow it to be matched with a number of different foods, from antipasto to roast chicken and even cheese. You should be able to pick this up for around $25 in most wine shops, or for delivery to your door you can buy it from us.
