| 2007 Greenstone Point Pinot Noir
Maybe I'm losing touch with reality or maybe I am just easily excited by things, but this wine is another in the line of sub $20 bottles that has really impressed me. It is from New Zealand's South Island (that's all the information they provide), though it has plenty of things in common with Central Otago wines without the price tag. This kind of wine is never going to have heaps of structure, so it is all about the fruit. It is juicy and ripe, with nice elements of earth and beetroot sweetness. It lacks some concentration, but that is being picky, because overall it is fantastic. Call it a quaffer if you will, I'm going to call it my new 'house' Pinot. If you can find it, and it might be hard (you can badger your bottle shop to get some in), it will be just a touch over $18.
