Grosset is well and truly established as the King of Riesling in Australia, some would argue the world. All too often the other wines from Grosset are overlooked, and that is a great shame. This Semillon dominant blend is as precise and pure as his Rieslings, it won't hit the headlines like the Polish Hill, but it will please a lot of people. Vibrant and bright tropical notes, assertive acidity and steely mouthfeel all make this a terrific wine for the arrival of Spring. The amount of Semillon means that this wine age gracefully for a couple of years and easily outlast the majority of simple, fruit dominated straight Sauvignon Blancs that abound on our wine shelves. It is a premium wine and will cost about $30 in bottle shops. If you are looking for a change from the fruit bomb Sauvignon Blancs or a Riesling style wine with more obvious fruit and weight, keep you eyes peeled for the arrival in the next few weeks of this terrific Clare Valley wine.
