| 2007 Juno Shiraz
One of my favourite wine places is South Africa, it is such an unusual and beautiful land and is utterly under-represented in the Australian wine market. This is from a place called Darling, the wine is called Juno and add to that the label and tell me you're not in love! The wine is quite forward, much more than I expected, it is mouth filling, has ripe black fruits harnessed with savoury oak overtones. I am told it is not readily available until January, but some of you must have already been hoarding it. I tend to ask myself when I try a wine like this, which is going to cost around $15, "what more do you want?" In a nutshell, super ripe fruit, nice spice, nice body and good acid... simple. Go and tell your local bottle hop to get some South African wine in, you'll not regret it.
