This wine is a joint project from two of Australia's premier wine makers, Robert Hill Smith and Jeffery Grosset. The wine is a beautiful product, effortlessly clean, with pure fruit expression. There is something about Riesling that I find very enduring. Perhaps it is the simplicity of the process, or should I say the simplicity of the theory of the process. Grow good fruit, press fruit, leave in tank and then bottle. No oak, no malolactic fermentation, no pigeage, no batonnage. However the result is so wonderful, I want more of a story, I want to know about how each berry was pressed and treated and the special this and awkward that, but no, simplicity makes this so beautiful, and it is this simplicity that makes Riesling so perfect for sharing its unique terroir from different places all over the world, there are no other winemaker influenced flavours to get in the way. Staunch acidity, ethereal wafts of blossom and mouth-watering citrus. Mesh Riesling, is available from good bottle shops for around $27 dollars, and if you'd prefer to do it over the net, email me and I'll have it delivered to your door. Simple.
