| 2007 Quealy 17 Rows Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir nearly knocked me over. I've not smelled Mornington Pinot like this for, well, ever! It was black and foreboding, loads of dark fruits and charry oak. It was savoury and intense and concentrated. The colour of this wine was opaque and pushed out to a purple rim, the nose was intimidating and the mouth feel creamy and savoury dominated by spice and smoked bacon notes, I kept coming back to the word "tasty", which isn't high enough praise for it, but it certainly defined this wine. I wanted to drink it and kept smelling and tasting it. This is not a wall flower of a wine and I'll be very interested in following its evolution. Kathleen Quealy has really broken the Mornington mould with this wine and I love it, expect to pay around $42.
