A pale colour with a green tinge, 'The Foil' is herbaceous and prickly. The fruit is understated, with clean steely acid and a fresh slice of citrus and star fruit. In the world of Sauvignon Blanc, where obvious fruit, bland textures and residual sugar abound, the clever, retiring precision of a wine likeā¦'The Foil' is king. All of the new wines under the Riposte label are named after various swords, and the slicing and sliding of metal on metal certainly is reminiscent of the sharp and clean nature of this wine. So go out and 'Thrust and Parry' til your heart's content...not in that order if the mood takes you, or if like me the art of sword play eludes you, go and buy a bottle of this for about $22. You can ask me for some and I'll send it to you.
