2008 Delatite Gewurztraminer

I've had a relationship with this wine for some time, I haven't been in touch much lately, but I can safely say I have drunk more of this particular wine than just about any other. Gewurztraminer originates from a town called Tramin in Italy's north, however its most famous expression comes from the heady wines of Alsace in France, and I feel confident in calling this the best example of it in Australia. Fresh and floral on the nose offering musk, red fruits and delightful lychee notes, the wine has all the structural elements of a hybrid Riesling/Grigio. It finishes with its uniquely suggestive and almost pungent rose water character that makes Gewurztraminer one of the most memorable glasses of wine available to us. Readily available, this terrific, flexible wine should cost you around $22.
