There is something wonderful about the new release Rieslings of the year; the nose of exquisite perfume, the colour tinged with green and the combination of power and subtlety all in one sniff.  I know it is early but the blossoms are already bursting in some parts, and it is this early sign of spring that seems to coincide with the release of the much anticipated Riesling wines. Don’t be mistaken, this wine is a baby, there are still smells fresh from the winery that need to soften, but as always with this wine, the purity and high notes of springtime flowers and crisp citrus notes dominate. Broader and more forward than the ’07, this wine will be drinking beautifully very soon, as it was only bottled a few weeks ago. Brush off the winter chill with a glorious little Clare Riesling. Expect to pay around $35 for this.
