2008 Sabotage Sauvignon Blanc

I believe the name of this wine comes from one of the winemakers, who during vintage some years ago earned the name the 'French Saboteur'. I have always liked this wine and the 2008 is no exception. It is a Sauvignon Blanc that is styled more towards Pouilly Fume and Sancerre than Marlborough, hence the 'Barrel Fermented' addition to the label. The wine itself is very clean and delivers fresh and pure Sauvignon Blanc flavours with lovely texture and spice. There is well balanced lemony acidity, steel, classic minerality and more fresh fruit character on the palate. Its restraint from full blown tropical notes makes it a delight to drink, and coupled with the price tag of around $24 retail it is a wine to keep an eye out for.
