2008 Silverwood Pinot Grigio

I am really happy when Grigio is labelled correctly, as this wine is. To bang my drum one more time, too many producers label wines in the style of Grigio as Gris, and it is misleading and annoying, so to Silverwood I say, well done (it's not meant to sound patronising, but I fear it does.) This wine has great acidity laying beneath a tight and mineral expression of fruit; green apple and pear, fresh herbs, citrus notes and some white flowers, very impressive and very varietal indeed. The Mornington Peninsula impresses me more and more of late, and it is wines like this that are leading the way, simple, clean and tasting as they should. To buy this wine online from the vineyard will cost $23. Take at look at their site here.
