Le Petit Vin D'Avril

This is a Vin de Table, a lowly French classification that means ‘Table Wine’. In France, wine that has this title is not allowed to have a grape name or region nor the year of vintage on it. It is deemed not good enough to be a standard bearer for any of those things. It doesn’t mean it isn’t tasty though. It is simple and fresh, it has bright red fruits and nice crunchy tannins and acidity. It opens up a little, but what you see on opening is basically what you get. A simple, clean bottle of wine. It was my Sunday afternoon wine, which lead into my “drink while cooking dinner” wine, which accompanied various off cuts and samples as the food was getting ready. It was delightful and fun. I don’t know what grapes were in it, I presume as it is associated with the Southern Rhone, that there was Grenache and some other indigenous varieties whose names offer no extra excitement. This will be hard to find, and will cost about $28 if you do find some. It is honest and unassuming, I really enjoyed it and I will be happy to track it down for you.
