| NV Bress Sparkling Shiraz
It is a shame that sparkling Shiraz seems to be an after thought for drinkers, it has everything that ticks all the boxes of what sounds good; big bold fruit, bubbles, refreshment, value for money, wide appeal, and yet it seems to only come out at Christmas. Bress, made by Adam Marks, has many different offerings, from Cider to Heathcote Shiraz, and a few things in between. "Wow!", I sputter as I recoil from the first sip. I was met with a dense, vibrant, peppery mouthful of flavour, I was expecting more, a jammy Barossa fruit bomb, and I am happily surprised that it's not. Leathery, black cherries, cracked pepper, cedar, pure fresh, juicy fruit. "Wow!", I know I've said it too many times, but it is a pretty special Sparkling Shiraz. Expect to pay around $20, and be prepared to say "wow" a lot.
