| NV Henschke Blanc de Noirs
The Henschke Blanc de Noirs has a nice straw colour with a green edge to it, the nose offers lots of mineral notes and chalk which are topped with lemon and red fruit notes, (just to recap, blanc de noirs are made from only red grapes, in champagne this means Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, in this case the wine is 100% Pinot Noir.) The mouth offers fresh cream, vanilla, more obvious strawberry and a hint of anise. The wine has a terrific bead and has a very generous mouth feel, despite clean and long acidity. On the finish there is a scraping of toast and clean green apple freshness. The winemaker notes that this is a wine for celebration and therefore immediate consumption, as the 10-year-old base wine offers complexity enough I imagine. The wine will be in very limited release and possibly only available in restaurants where you can expect to pay around $75+ for it depending on which restaurant you are in, if it hits retail it should be around $50.
